Wow…two days after the Devil Driver gig at the Sugarmill and I’m still recovering. I wasn’t even in the mosh pit! I was in so much pain during the other band’s sets that I was seriously thinking about leaving before Devil Driver came on, but thankfully I managed to get through it. Eye of the tiger, etc. I’m just glad I had my walking stick with me or I’d never have made it through. Also a huge thank you to the bloke working security upstairs who got me a chair by balcony railings so I could see the bands and not collapse. The other people there were really nice and didn’t just shove in front of me either. It must have been really frustrating to have me in the way, but if they were annoyed, no one said anything. The reason why I went upstairs was to get out of everyone’s way to avoid pissing too many people off, but the place was packed even upstairs! I got rid of the chair for Devil Driver, which is why I’m in so much pain now, but it was worth it!
The support bands were brilliant. I’d not heard of any of them before because I’ve been really out of the metal scene for ages. After seeing these bands I’ve realised how much I’ve been missing. I’ve been such an old fogie and listening to basically the same stuff over and over; getting new music every now and again from friends. I’ve really been stuck in a rut, music-wise. Solitude, Malifice, God Forbid have made me want to get into metal again.
Devil Driver put on a fantastic show. There was just so much enthusiasm from the band and the crowd was going absolutely mental. I desperately wanted to join the people downstairs, but I don’t think I would have survived! I managed to get a few photos, but they’re not the best quality due to how far away I was, trying to stay upright holding onto my stick and the camera, and knowing bugger all about photography
If anyone can make these photos look better (or want to attempt to), email me/leave a comment and I’ll get the originals to you.

Seriously… out of the millions of years I’ve been surfing blogs, I’ve never once met any blogger into metal! I’ve always felt like the odd ball out online because, well, that’s pretty much what I live for! When I first saw your title, I told myself, “She must be talking about some other DevilDriver.” But no! It’s the same DevilDriver I was thinking of! Since you’ve reinstated your love for metal, are you planning on going to any other concerts any time soon?
Who is “Devil Driver”? I’ve never heard of it before.
Cute site, BTW.
I’m glad you had fun at the concert. I never heard of that band before. I know what you mean about getting out of the loop with music. But that’s one reason why I love last.fm They will play music they recommend for you based on the music you already listen to. It’s great.
heehee. i had so much fun making the rabbits move on your banner! nice site :]
whoa! a polite crowd at a mosh pit? Probably because it’s Christmas?

DevilDriver….hmmm, I’ll have to look into that one. My tastes run mostly to Godsmack, Type O Negative, Evanescence, and Sevendust.
But I do like to find new bands to get into.
Thats what my pics look like from the Avenged Sevenfold Concert.. Totally amazing.
