I haven’t been able to sleep properly for a while now. Lydia’s been waking up at silly-o-clock every night for at least 2 weeks now, either because she’s been wetting the bed or she’s happened to wake up and fancies watching Tom & Jerry downstairs. I don’t know why she’s started wetting the bed, as she’s been doing brilliantly. Now it just seems to have gotten into a routine with her. It happened again last night, so Dave changed her bedding and clothes and put her back to bed. She refused to have any of that though and screamed the place down on and off for 2 hours. We knew she was alright and had everything she needed, so we left her to it. It was so hard though
She’s got to learn to try and get back to sleep, especially with starting Nursery. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway as I clutch onto the bed trying not to run to her and give in. So now it’s gotten into a routine with me. I expect her to wake up crying, so I can’t settle. I’m just constantly listening out for her.
She loved Nursery though. Absolutely adored it. One of the parents had to go with them for their first ‘day’ (it’s only an hour and a half a day for 2 weeks) and Dave said that didn’t want to leave! It’ll be good to see how quickly she adapts to more structured play. She’s used to just going off and doing what she wants, but now obviously, she has to stand in line for stuff and only do things that she’s been told to do. She wasn’t too impressed with that this morning! Here’s a picture of her looking all grown up *sob*
In other news, I should finally be able to hear properly again soon! After waiting since April to be referred to a Specialist, I’ve seen the Doctor and I’m having an operation to have gromits put in my ears. It’s booked for the 28th which is next Friday! It should be just a day thing but they’ve told me to pack an overnight bag just in case (knowing my luck…). My sister, Laura, has even booked the day off work so that she can drive me up there {{ickle blister}}
Now, totally irrelevant to what I’ve been waffling about….hnnnng, I want an iPod Touch! I’ve never really been tempted by iPods before, but it’s so beautiful! If it allowed you to to edit the calendar on-the-fly I would pimp Dave out to buy it ![]()
I hope you get some real sleep
Hang in there ! and I haven’t heard about that ipod, -googles-
lol
It is so hard to leave ‘em to cry it out - I totally know what you’re going through. Ugh. All I can do is give you a hug - *HUG!!!!* - and assure you that it’s all for the best! S’s fab at night now and apart from every now and then, sleeps through and easily settles himself back down again if he wakes for a drink or something. Be strong though and know you’re not alone!
V xx
p.s. The night thing? Do you leave a potty in the room with her at night? Although S never used it (he has the constitution of a camel) whilst training we did leave one in the room and encouraged him with stickers/incentives to get up and use it if he feels the need to wee.
Thanks Vixx, I appreciate it. She’s been sleeping a bit better these last couple of days, but she’s still wetting the bed. We have a potty in her room, which she does actually use, but then she’ll not use it for the next time that she needs to go.
We always reward her when she does well too. Not stickers though! We tried that at first but she got really grotty with us when we wouldn’t let her put /all/ of the stickers on and let her play with it! :neutral:
She’ll get there in the end :)
While it sounds like you aren’t sleeping, at least you have a reason to get up in the night and aren’t laying there aimlessly trying to sleep. The absolute worst is when you lay there for no reason and have a billion thoughts running through your head.
I’m sure your daughter will quit wetting the bed soon and you will be back in dream land nightly!
