Slinky Tanned Bex

Hahaha, yeah right. Me? Tanned? Yes that’s right, I’m back!

I did actually try to sunbathe for a while as it was extremely hot in Whitby and I could do with a bit of colour. I’m so pale that I’m almost see-through! But no, it wasn’t to be. I was flopped on the beach and my arms started to go bright red. “No problem”, I thought, I used to go really tanned straight-away, but as it’s been literally years since I’d been out in the sun ‘properly’ like this, I’m bound to go a little red. So I slapped on a load more suncream and lay there listening to some tunes. We get back to the cottage and my arms feel like they’re on fire. I came out in really bad blisters all over my arms. Blisters ffs. If it’s not one thing it’s a-bloody-nother. I hunted down a Pharmacist and they looked up the new tablets that I’ve been put on, and it turns out that a rare side-effect is Photo-Sensitivity. No, that’s not an allergy to having my picture taken  So I was told to totally cover up and slap on a ton of suncream and after-sun cream. No more sunshine for me! Ah well

I also had really bad hayfever and had coughing fits at night. I was lucky if I managed to get more that 4 hours sleep a night and one night I didn’t get any sleep at all. I was surprisingly awake considering that normally I turn into a miserable cow that uses sophisticated grunting as a main form of communication if I get any less than 8 hours sleep

Heh, well even though that sounds like I didn’t have a good time, I actually did! The cottage we stayed in was great and it was a very pretty little village (Aislaby, North Yorkshire). We went absolutely everywhere, including the village that the British TV programme, Heartbeat is filmed (Aidensfield). The crew were starting to set things up ready for filming whilst we were having a drink at the pub! It was so weird as they came along with a load of signs replacing the real ones that the village normally use with ones for the programme itself. The pub we were having a drink outside of was the actual pub they use in the series too! I actually cant stand Heartbeat, but it was still pretty cool seeing where it was filmed. Whitby was gorgeous too, and Lydia enjoyed a little ride around the town on an old-fashioned, open bus. However, she doesn’t like the sea, sand, grass or wood (we tried to sit her on a small viking-type boat). Fussy bugger

She’s developing so quickly now though! Before we left, she was just starting to crawl backwards a little bit, but after 2 days at the cottage, she’s crawling forwards and likes to stand up (with us holding her hands for her to lean on). She’s so funny when she stands up. I grin at her and tell her she’s a clever girl, then she turns around looking at everyone else and they all have to praise her too – even applauding! It’s hellish now that we’re back home though. We’ve had to re-arrange everything because it’s just come from nowhere! She’s into absolutely everything. I was laughing my head off because I kept telling Dave “She’ll be after your DVDs you know. They’ll be scattered all over the floor”. Guess what the first thing she went for was when we put her on the floor once we got back home? Yep, the DVDs

I’ve uploaded a few more pics to my photo gallery, but there’ll be loads more to come. So if you ever have a bout of insomnia, Icklebug now has a cure!

Got loads more stuff to type, but I just don’t have the time at the moment – so much to catch up on! Going to take Lydia to the local Primary School carnival later. In just a couple of years time, that’s where she’ll be going for real!

Ciao for now!

Hi there, just stumbled by when I noticed you’d blogmarked my site. Thanks! Also, I feel for you. I would die if I couldn’t be out in the sun anymore. Is this a permanent thing or will it go away as soon as you go off those tablets?

Oh wow, I guess I am pretty fortunate in that I rarely burn ^^; My skin is olivey so when I am out in the sun I usually go right to tan. If I don’t I might burn a little, but that goes away in a day or two and I am left with a little color ^^ (but although I am olive in color – it doesn’t mean I don’t get as pastey as hell ;_;) But it sounds like your trip was fun! I can’t wait to go on vacay.

Your vacation sounded fun…apart from the burning (been there myself…ouch). Glad you are back!

My little one did the same thing. I think it was less than a week to learn how to crawl but walking took much longer. And yes! My little girl gets into the DVDs too. I have no idea why but it must be fun. I’ve learnt to put them away out of reach… hehe
