I’ve decided that I want to make a contribution, however small, to another child’s life. Since having Lydia I can’t bear to see any tv programmes or adverts where children are effected. Obviously I found it sad before, but it’s like it’s personal now. I want to do something instead of just crying at the tv. I did a bit of searching around online and decided to sponsor a child through World Vision. I’ve literally just registered for a monthly contribution, so I’ve just got to wait for my sponsorship pack and to see who I’m sponsoring. On the US site you can choose an individual child to sponsor, but on the UK site, a child is picked for you from the specifications you give. I’d rather do it the 2nd way. I don’t want to see the faces of the children and choose just one. All I’ve specified is that I’d like to sponsor a girl from Bolivia who is over 11yrs old. Everyone sponsors babies because they are so cute, but I’d like to help an older child who may have been forgotten about simply because they’re a little older.
I was Acting Manager again at work yesterday because the usual Acting Manager had called in sick. Hopefully he’ll be back today because I still cant access email and I don’t know how to do the Personal Improvement Plans without it. One of my friends from the team was able to do coaching for me too, which was great. She’s really good at it and is good company too
Lydia’s been doing brilliantly. I’ll have to take more pictures of her because she’s so bloody gorgeous :luv: We bought her a little pushchair that she can walk around with. Hopefully it’ll encourage her to try walking. She’s so lazy and refuses to try to walk. She’ll be 14 months old tomorrow and she shows absolutely no sign of wanting to walk without the aid of a wall to lean on or hands to hold. Mind you, apparently I was 14 months old before I started walking. I was too busy whizzing around the house in my walkabout! So she’s going to be lazy like me
Dave’s started back volunteering at the local Primary school again now that they’re back from the summer holidays. He listens to them reading and helps out around the classroom. As far as I know, no one’s called him Mr Brock(oli), but it’s early days yet
Although, a couple of children were worried about him turning into Darth Vader because he was wearing all black! *chuckles* He’ll be taking Lydia to the local toddler group tomorrow for the first time…properly. He’s been a few times before, but either they were closed for the holidays or I got the wrong day. Oopsee! Hopefully she’ll enjoy it there and wont beat up the other children!

:evil:this is weird…but cool…
LOL. I love your layout especially the case of diarrhoea. Very Creative.
I think it’s great that you are sponsoring a child. Especially an older one. People seem to think that only the cute babies need help and the older ones are completely neglected. It’s the same way in orphanges.
*orphanages*
*cute babies that need help*
Jeez I’m off my rocker today. Where’s me glasses?
I think that’s so cool that you are going to sponser a child…awesome, just too awesome!
You’ll have to let us know how it all goes…I, for one, am very curious about it…and I might think of doing something similar, it would be a great family project!
Hmmm… you misspelled “diarrhea”.
When I read about your decision to sponsor a child – and your reasons for doing so – I almost shouted out, such is my joy for finding a kindred soul. (http://furious-angel.com/2005/07/29/the-day-i-cried-again/ will tell you all you need to know how about crap I’ve been lately ;p).
Obviously, you don’t have to have had a child to care about these things, but I’m *convinced* that I’m like this now because I’m a mother. Everything changed the moment I had Sam and every story of neglect and abuse and heartache just makes me sob. It’s so nice to know I’m not the only one!

I thought my daughter was never going to walk on her one till after her first birthday. You’ll be surprised they’ll just up… and go walking to the nearest object when you dont even watch properly.. I found putting a coffee table in the middle of the room works best.
Good on you for contributing and helping out a child in need. I’d love to do that too… but till I get my budget clearer.. I couldn’t help anyone much
That is so warm-hearted of you!:luv:
My dad does that…but for the American Indian kids who are living on reservations. A lot of them are really poor…and considering they are in the US… it is sad to see a once proud people subjected to such an atrocious environment.
Try encouraging her by continuously standing her up and holding her up in that position while making her legs go in a walking motion… if you do that enough, she might be encouraged. My son Angel started walking at 8 months…and my father said I started at 7 months. I know there are kids that do not walk until later, but my dad did suggest to me what I suggest to you. SO…I hope it helps.
aww…how sweet and warm-hearted.
That’s really nice! :luv: Happy Lydia is doing well… She must love her pushchair! That’s good for her legs… Cool!
All the best!

I too sponsor a child, however I decided to use SOS Canada, rather than world vision.
Primarily, because all the religious quote and pray groups that world vision has on their website. I was concerned that they would tie my gift to the child converting to christianity, which is just bad practice.
You can learn more about sponsoring a child on there website.
Well that link did not work !!!
Oh Well.
