Well, what a happy-go-lucky household it’s been for the past week or so. We’ve all been ill and just about starting to get better. First Lydia had a cold, which she seemed to recover from quite quickly, then Dave got the dreaded Man-Flu
He was genuinely ill, but he’d still do the odd dramatic thing which would make me chuckle. Like, if you took something upstairs to him while he was resting, he’d slowly look at you like he was on his death bed and it took all of his strength and will to just look at you. I half expected him to say something like ‘come closer, my dear. The lights…they dim’.
I’ve been ill too (surprise), so I wouldn’t have felt up to looking after Lydia on my own. So Dave’s parents looked after her for us for a couple of days, which was really nice. It wouldn’t have been fair to her to be stuck in the house with grumpy, ill parents. She may aswell get spoiled rotten by Nana and Grandad :D They said that she really missed us though; getting all weepy and taking a photo of us to bed. Awww!
When she got back though, she seemed to start getting ill again. Dave said that he took her up town and she seemed really depressed. She wasn’t crying or whinging. She’d just look so sad
You couldn’t do a thing for her as she just wanted to be left alone. We’d keep her downstairs with us, on the settee with lots of pillows and a quilt. We kept offering her her favourite things, but she wasn’t interested in anything. Not even jellybabies! You expect crying, but she was so despondent. That was the scariest thing to me. Dave took her to see the Doctor who told him that she had an ‘infection’ and gave her some anti-biotics. She’s really improved since yesterday, thankfully. She still looks ill and still refuses to eat, but she’s moving around more and is even smiling occasionally!
I went to the Hospital yesterday to see my Rheumatologist for a check-up. He’s putting me back on Methotrexate and gave me a delightful intra-muscular steroid injection. It actually wasn’t that painful as far as being stabbed in the arse cheek goes
Hopefully the steroids will make me feel better. We shall see!
