Thank you for all the comments congratulating me on getting the Deputy Coach job. It’s going really well, and with Xmas coming up I’m able to do more hours and overtime. I’m on the early shift now until Xmas and it’s great. I wish it was permanent It’s taken me a while to get used to going to bed so early. I find it really hard to sleep if I know I’ve got to be up at a certain time, and keep waking up to check the time. After doing that for most of the night, when I see that it’s 3.30am I just give up on sleeping and roll down the stairs. Ah well, at least it gives me the chance to catch up on my favourite shows on Hulu (especially Heroes Season 3. Hahaha, that show is totally nuts now. I can’t stop watching).

Lydia’s doing really well. She’s been ill with a stomach bug over the last couple of days, but she’s a lot better now. She’s been in such a lovely mood recently too. We sometimes have to remind her to use her manners with us (she’s great with other people though), but she’s been absolutely perfect and is really helpful too. When I was carrying a load of washing upstairs, she opened the door for me, switched the stairs light on and told me to be careful! How cute is that? She loves washing dishes and dusting….I’m just going to enjoy it while it lasts!

She acts like a parent herself sometimes, especially with other children at the park. One little boy was throwing a tantrum because he didn’t want to leave, so his Mum started to slowly walk off without him. Lydia was in total shock at this and ran after his Mum shouting “What are you doing?! Where are you going?!”. She then pointed at the boy, ran up to him and started pulling him screaming “Come on! Your Mum’s going away! Come onnnnnn!”. Oh god, it was hilarious!

So what’s the latest gossip from the internet? I definitely need to do some catching up on various sites. Can anyone recommend some linkage for me, please? My bookmarks folder is a little bare

Tonight it’s no different. It’s made worse by the fact that I’ve got an assessment at work tomorrow and I need to get myself into the right frame of mind. It’s not as if the assessment is going to be first thing in the morning….it’s at 6pm, but I’m still keeping myself awake :damnyou: At least having a nap shouldn’t be a problem!

Going off on a slight tangent now, but have any of you tried Dropbox yet? It’s a fantastic way of storing your files with easy access online. You install the software on your computer, and anything that you want to be able to access elsewhere, you save to the Dropbox folder, and it syncs the files to your account online. It’s great if you want to access something at work that you did at home, or to share files for a group project. I’ve got 9 invites left, so leave a comment if you’d like to try it.

It’s mine and Dave’s wedding anniversary today – we’ve been married for 8 years! We can’t really do much tonight like going out for a meal, etc, because I work at night and there’s no one to look after Lydia during the week. Dave’s parents are going to look after Lydia on Saturday, so we’re going to spend the day at the cinema watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3, 28 Weeks Later and then have a mooch around town.

I know this link is probably really old, but I’m completely addicted to Deanimator at the moment. Shooting a never-ending army of the undead is strangely satisfying. It’s not the most complicated game in the world, in fact, I’ve already told you the whole plot, but I don’t want to be the only person addicted

At the moment I have to unplug the phone to get online as I need to get a splitter for the phone-line. Apparently, the way the engineers connected us to the same place as the phone-line without a splitter means that it gets overloaded. Or something. So Dave-Face has gone to get a splitter from up town, which will hopefully work.

I was planning on having a Bexy Late Night Special (so to speak) last night as I’ve got 4 of Lost episodes to catch up on as well as South Park and 24. Oh, and this really cool programme on giant snakes that I’d recorded. I had pizza, plenty of iced tea, Lydia was sleeping fine and Dave had gone to bed early. It was going to be great. To top it all off I would finally be able to catch up with everyone and everything that I’d missed.

Well. I watched 2 episodes of Lost. The third was the same as the second, as I accidentally recorded the repeat instead of the new episode. I couldn’t watch the fourth because I need to see the third first. Grr. I also couldn’t watch 24 as for some reason it decided to stop recording right at the beginning. My viewing plans ruined, I decided to nosey online and read some emails.

Feeling thoroughly defeated I decided to save South Park for another night and retreated to bed.

The documentary about giant snakes was cool though.

In ‘Roffle’ news, Dave was watching some anime called ‘Gunsmith Cats’ and I happened to catch a minute of it. I could hardly breathe as I was laughing so much. It just seemed like an ordinary thing at first, but then this black male character appeared. I had to take a photo of it as it was so completely ridiculous. BEHOLD!

I mean really. How outrageously racist is that?! LOOK AT THOSE LIPS! Of course, the ‘token black guy’ gets blown up two minutes afterwards It was so preposterous and out there that I was aching all over from how much I was laughing!

Lydia was funny today. She’s been doing really well with her potty training so far, even getting up off the settee on her own to go to the potty. We always reward her with a sweet and cheer her when she brings the potty to us. Well, today she sat in the recliner and I had my back to her, picking up her pens off the floor when I hear her cheering herself. I turn around and she’s standing up grinning at me, little fists in the air, shouting ‘YES!’. Then I notice a huge wet stain all over the seat :hmm: She wasn’t at all happy about the fact that she wouldn’t be getting any chocolate for weeing all over the chair, bless her squidgy cheeks. Hopefully it was just a minor blip as she’s been doing so well, but her little face when she thought she’d done something grown-up was gorgeous

Hnnngh, it’s almost 3.00am now and I’m absolutely shattered. I think I sucked all the air out of the room with the yawn I just did. Unfortunately I’ve got a cold with a really bad cough and can hardly sleep a wink. This is my current plan of action for optimum sleepy-action:

• Put the TV on to a childrens channel for cartoony background goodness
• Make a heeeeooooooge mug of Horlicks
• Stock up on Strepsils
• Get my MP3 player and listen to the Adam & Joe and Ricky Gervais podcasts
• Hopefully stop coughing and fall asleep in my chair
• Dave will sense that I am asleep and will carry me upstairs and tuck me into bed

Somehow I think I’ll only get up to the podcasts part of my list and no further. I can’t fall asleep in chairs and Dave isn’t telepathic, the swine. I’d love it if you could tell me your favourite podcasts as I can always do with more listening material! For now I’m going to download some more Adam & Joe stuff and Penn Jillette.

Anyway, tonight I get back from work and decide to waffle at my mates on MSN until my Chinese takeway arrived. This girl added me about 2 days ago, and this is the first time that she’s spoken to me:

In other news…recently I have been mostly using Flock as my browser of choice. It’s based on the Firefox browser and it’s absolutely fantastic! It’s only in beta, but I’m finding it so much easier to use and there are so many cool features and extensions. It does a lot of things that Firefox does, I suppose, but in a much cooler way. I just find it much more convenient to use. One thing Dave was worried about was losing all of his Firefox bookmarks, but as you can import all of them into Flock, it’s the only thing he uses now. It’s incredibly difficult to get him to use anything other than what he’s used to, but the fact that he’s taken to Flock so quickly shows how cool it is

I’m going to be making the odd change around Icklebug over the weekend. Messing around with plugins and the like, so if you see anything strange, just bear with me and I’ll sort it asap I will probably change the main font colour too as someone emailed me about it being too hard to read at the moment. Well, when I say ‘email’, by that I actually mean ‘sent me a totally blank email except for the subject title’, which was rather abrupt. If you’re having problems with an aspect of my site, then I’d appreciate an email so that I can improve, but at least treat me like a human being. Just because you’re online and we’re not actually interacting face-to-face doesn’t mean you have to be a dick.

I’ve been working on some more WordPress templates for sale on Icklebug Designs and have completed two. Go me!
