About 5 minutes before leaving work tonight I was handed a letter telling me that I had got the job! I’m so incredibly happy! I’ve never gotten a job after an interview before. I’ve always gone through employment agencies, but anything that I applied for myself and had to have an interview for, I never got. I always got on well with the interviewers and they seemed to really like me, but then they wouldn’t hire me. So when this interview went well I didn’t really dare to believe that I would actually be successful!

What a great way to start the weekend!

The support bands were brilliant. I’d not heard of any of them before because I’ve been really out of the metal scene for ages. After seeing these bands I’ve realised how much I’ve been missing. I’ve been such an old fogie and listening to basically the same stuff over and over; getting new music every now and again from friends. I’ve really been stuck in a rut, music-wise. Solitude, Malifice, God Forbid have made me want to get into metal again.

Devil Driver put on a fantastic show. There was just so much enthusiasm from the band and the crowd was going absolutely mental. I desperately wanted to join the people downstairs, but I don’t think I would have survived! I managed to get a few photos, but they’re not the best quality due to how far away I was, trying to stay upright holding onto my stick and the camera, and knowing bugger all about photography If anyone can make these photos look better (or want to attempt to), email me/leave a comment and I’ll get the originals to you.

I intend on staking the place out to hopefully get some autographs. If anyone else is planning to go, let me know and we can set up camp and have a nice pic-a-nic outside the doors

Edit: I’ve got my ticket for DevilDriver and I’ve got the night booked off for the MSI gig. I just need to get my ticket for that now!

She’s just got to get used to going on toilets other than ours. She’ll use the potty at Playgroup, but she’s not happy about using the toilet. She’s got a miniature, pink toilet seat which we take everywhere with us, but she won’t go on any other toilet outside the house. We went for a meal last weekend for my Uncles birthday and she wanted to go to the bathroom. We took her but she refused to do anything, but continued whinging because she was obviously uncomfortable. Dave had to take her home in the end, and she waited all that time to go. At least we know she can hold it if she wants to

I managed to get a cool video of her being tickled by Dave and I’ve uploaded it for your viewing pleasure. I must have watched it over a hundred times, especially after Lydia worked out how to press play on the camera. She’d run into the kitchen with the video constantly playing. We would be watching something on the TV with the constant sound of Lydia laughing as the soundtrack I still laugh every time I hear it. There’s also the added bonus of seeing Dave’s legs! He’s mine, ladies

It’s mine and Dave’s wedding anniversary today – we’ve been married for 8 years! We can’t really do much tonight like going out for a meal, etc, because I work at night and there’s no one to look after Lydia during the week. Dave’s parents are going to look after Lydia on Saturday, so we’re going to spend the day at the cinema watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3, 28 Weeks Later and then have a mooch around town.

I know this link is probably really old, but I’m completely addicted to Deanimator at the moment. Shooting a never-ending army of the undead is strangely satisfying. It’s not the most complicated game in the world, in fact, I’ve already told you the whole plot, but I don’t want to be the only person addicted

This is our garden after it had been attacked by Dave’s parents. Attacked in a good way. I can’t wait until the weather improves and we can invite our friends round to have a barbeque

The kitchen/dining room is a mess at the moment so I want to avoid the photographic evidence of that. So here is a caricature of me and Dave drawn by an artist in Leicester Square, London, in 1997, which is displayed in the kitchen. Seeing my face whenever I want to get something to eat is good for my diet

My Cousin sent me two photos from the Deathstars gig, so once they’re scanned I’ll post them next entry.

Oh, and the gift that my sister got for me was a CSI fingerprinting kit! How cool is that? The house is going to end up covered in fingerprinting dust and crime scene tape

I went up town to spend some of my birthday money and had a couple of coffees with Jasmine and Sandra. I even got a free caramel latte from the bloke working there. We got chatting when he was clearing up the table next to me and he asked me if I was on my lunch break. I told him that I had the day off because it’s my birthday, so he wished me happy birthday and then went back to the till. A couple of minutes later he came back with a loyalty card with everything stamped so that I could have a free coffee, said happy birthday and wandered off again! So cool.

Now I’ve just got to decide what I’m going to have for my tea. I can’t decide whether to have pizza or a Chinese takeway. Decisions, decisions…

In ‘Roffle’ news, Dave was watching some anime called ‘Gunsmith Cats’ and I happened to catch a minute of it. I could hardly breathe as I was laughing so much. It just seemed like an ordinary thing at first, but then this black male character appeared. I had to take a photo of it as it was so completely ridiculous. BEHOLD!

I mean really. How outrageously racist is that?! LOOK AT THOSE LIPS! Of course, the ‘token black guy’ gets blown up two minutes afterwards It was so preposterous and out there that I was aching all over from how much I was laughing!

Lydia was funny today. She’s been doing really well with her potty training so far, even getting up off the settee on her own to go to the potty. We always reward her with a sweet and cheer her when she brings the potty to us. Well, today she sat in the recliner and I had my back to her, picking up her pens off the floor when I hear her cheering herself. I turn around and she’s standing up grinning at me, little fists in the air, shouting ‘YES!’. Then I notice a huge wet stain all over the seat :hmm: She wasn’t at all happy about the fact that she wouldn’t be getting any chocolate for weeing all over the chair, bless her squidgy cheeks. Hopefully it was just a minor blip as she’s been doing so well, but her little face when she thought she’d done something grown-up was gorgeous

Hnnngh, it’s almost 3.00am now and I’m absolutely shattered. I think I sucked all the air out of the room with the yawn I just did. Unfortunately I’ve got a cold with a really bad cough and can hardly sleep a wink. This is my current plan of action for optimum sleepy-action:

• Put the TV on to a childrens channel for cartoony background goodness
• Make a heeeeooooooge mug of Horlicks
• Stock up on Strepsils
• Get my MP3 player and listen to the Adam & Joe and Ricky Gervais podcasts
• Hopefully stop coughing and fall asleep in my chair
• Dave will sense that I am asleep and will carry me upstairs and tuck me into bed

Somehow I think I’ll only get up to the podcasts part of my list and no further. I can’t fall asleep in chairs and Dave isn’t telepathic, the swine. I’d love it if you could tell me your favourite podcasts as I can always do with more listening material! For now I’m going to download some more Adam & Joe stuff and Penn Jillette.
