Back Up Your MySQL Databases Using PHPMyAdmin

Backing up your MySQL databases is so easy, you’ll wonder why you never knew it in the first place! I know I certainly did!

You need access to your Domain’s CPanel and PHPMyAdmin. To find PHPMyAdmin, click on the MySQL Databases button in your CPanel, and you’ll come to a page that says MySQL Account Maintenance. Scroll to the bottom and click on the link that says PHPMyAdmin.

On the left side of the page, there is the PHPMyAdmin logo and a dropdown list with the word Database above it. Select the database you want to back-up from the dropdown list. The page will then load with the options for that database.

Choose Export from the tabs across the top.

The page will load again giving you more options. You should be able to leave most of the options as they are, but to make sure, here are the things that should be ticked:

    • Under Export, SQL should be selected
    • Under SQL Options, Add AUTO_INCREMENT value, Enclose table and
field names with backquote, Data, and Use hexadecimal for binary fields

      should be ticked

Now, you need to tick the box for Save as File.

The File Name Template should be __DB__ automatically and where it says Compression, choose Zipped and press Go.

    All Done! Yay!
