    Dreamweaver FTP

I use Dreamweaver 4, but it shouldn’t be too different if you’re using a newer one.

The first thing you need to do is to ‘define site’. That means that you need to define where Dreamweaver will gets all it’s information from and where it’s going to put it online. You need to have a folder on your computer where all the stuff for your site will be. Click on Site, Define Site and a box will appear. Click New.

Where it says Category, choose Local Info.

Type the title of your site in the Site Name box. Where it says Local Root Folder, click on the yellow folder icon and choose the folder on your computer where all your site stuff is and press ok.

Click on Remote Info and choose FTP. This is where you type in all your FTP info.

FTP Host: Type in your ftp access address e.g. ftp.yourdomain.com
    Host Directory: Leave this blank
Login: Type your login details e.g yourusername@yourdomain.com
Password: Yep, password here! Click the Save checkbox if you dont want to type it in everytime you want to login to your FTP

Leave everything else as it is unless you’re having trouble logging in to FTP. If you’re sure everything else you typed is correct, it may be because you need to enable Passive FTP. Just tick the checkbox underneath Password to enable Passive FTP.
